Bored

Have you heard of this guy Jonathan Lee Riches? He's locked up in South Carolina for wire fraud. Apparently, he occasionally gets as bored as I do. While I waste time surfing "teh interwebs" he's filed over a thousand lawsuits in federal district courts nationwide. Here's some summaries from Justia:

Riches et al v. Vick et al August 3, 2007
Plaintiff a/k/a "Credit Card Czar" d/b/a "The Nostradamus of Commerce" seeks $662 trillion in British Gold delivered via JB Hunt trucking. Plaintiff alleges that he used a stolen credit card for surgery on his dog because Michael Vick broke its leg. Plaintiff explains that dogs are forbidden to take out home equity loans with Countrywide Financial. Plaintiff also charges that Michael Vick ordered Jason Michael Carpenter (Riches' co-defendant) to send a botnet trojan horse into his court records and place false information to make Plaintiff look evil. Plaintiff also noted that Michael Vick is spelled Kciv Leahcim backwards.

Riches v. Vick July 23, 2007
Prisoner Johnathan Lee Riches© seeks $63 billion backed by gold and silver delivered via UPS from Michael Vick for allegedly stealing his two pit bulls and using them for dog fighting. Prisoner also alleges that Vick damaged the RFID chips in the plaintiff's dog collars, sold plaintiff's dogs on eBay and used the proceeds to purchase missiles from the Iran Government. Plaintiff also alleges that Michael Vick subjected him to microwave testing, but that's not all...

Riches v. Gordon et al September 12, 2007
Plaintiff (a/k/a "Litigator Crusador") alleged that defendant Jeff Gordon conspired with Barry Bonds, Michael Vick and others to drive his life insane, create madness in the world, and use #24 as a weapon of mass destruction. Plaintiff further alleged that defendant tied him to the bumper during the Talladega race, took Kit from Night Rider, used his #24 car in illegal car fights at Jiffy Lube Express, and used the #24 to hit Juan Valdez's horse. Plaintiff seeks a preliminary injunction to prevent defendant from driving off without paying at Sunoco stations.

If you're as bored as Riches and I, take a look at some of his cases at Justia.

Pressed

Had a haircut and a little pre-Key West fake-and-bake after work. So I had to get in a quick weight training session before the Wings/Stars game. With a short time limit and in the spirit of resting the legs after yesterday's ride I stuck to an upper body routine.

  • Chest Press
  • Shoulder Press
  • Lat Pulldown
  • Crunches on the Ball
  • Standing Curl
  • Pec Dec
  • French Press
  • Back Hyper-extension
  • Trunk Rotation
  • Seated Row
I was kickin a little 8 Ball Grifter, some of the best lifting tunes I've found. I wish those guys were still around. In a perfect world, they'd be playin Mac's the night before every day-off I had.

Less than two months until our return to paradise.

Speaking of Key West, Daryl Lee Brooks, aka Gold Man, was busted last week for selling cocaine. He needed to make some spare dough so he could have a day-off from his day job, standing around, motionless, in gold paint. That's an extra dollar I can spend on beer.

Ouch!

I got 15 miles in on the mountain bike tonight. I averaged .6mph under my target. That was disappointing but I had my first crash, causing the first bruise of the season. Stupid me going too slow over ice without having the foresight to unclip from the pedals before hand. It was nice and muddy, cold and wet. My feet took over a half-hour to thaw, now if the trails would thaw we'd be all set.

My arms are pretty sore today. I switched from tricep pushdown to a french press and from concentration curls to standing curls. But the pain is just weakness leaving the body.

I didn't have a camera with me tonight so I'll leave you with a picture of the kick ass Rock Racing jersey I wore and some info from the Garmin.

40 Days

No, that's not how long it's been since my last post. That's how long until the first race of the season, Yankee Springs. It's been a rough couple weeks. Not enough snow for skiing but too much snow and ice for riding. I've been completely uninspired for the past few weeks, I haven't done squat but 12 and 22 ounce curls. I guess I've been being generous, just giving my competition a chance to catch-up. I've done Yankee Springs once, it's the only time trial I've ever done. I hadn't trained or even been on the bike all year. I was in a haze, slightly hungover and decided I should upgrade since I hadn't raced, you know, in a few years.

It was a miserable 1:10 or 1:14 or whatever amount of time it took me to finish. Anyway, I don't expect that too happen again. I had some pretty decent training up until a few weeks ago and I'm back at it again. I was able to get some weight training in tonight and with highs above 40 for the next few days, I should get some outside hours on the bike (thank you DST).

Picture Published

I had a picture published in the latest VeloNews gallery.

Post Christmas/New Year Catch-up

We had a nice low-key Christmas. We visited many of the local relatives and had a few cocktails. The week of Christmas was scheduled as a rest week in the training plan. It's a good thing because we spent an awful lot of time in the car. The day after Christmas we headed down to Southeast Missouri to visit with more of my family. Michigan, Florida, Alaska, Nevada, Kansas, Illinois and Missouri were all represented. During the week we had a couple opportunities to ride the Lake Wappapello Trail in the Lake Wappapello State Park. It's quite a bit different than riding in Michigan. The climbs are as steep as Michigan climbs just a lot longer. Plus, there's rocks, big and small, littering the trail. I spent most of the time concerned with breaking an arm and not knowing where the nearest, or any, hospital might be. They were nice low-key rides with plenty of breaks for safety and rest week sake. We also got a nice hike in at Mingo Wildlife Refuge. Add in the packing of my granny's house and it's a safe assumption that we got our 4.5 hours worth of training for the week.

We returned the day before New Year's Eve, the ride home seemed quite a bit longer than the ride down. We got a late start (I need my beauty sleep) and arrived back in Lansing around 9PM. New Year's Eve we got up early and went and picked up the puppies. After that I, pretty much, vegged the rest of the day. I was supposed to ride but I was exhausted. We went out early that night to meet with Chris, who was up from Kentucky and preparing for a deployment to Suckistan. I had a couple pitchers there and we headed to Dirk's place for a little party. There I consumed three-quarters of a bottle of tequila and struggled through a game or two of Guitar Hero (it sure looked easier on South Park). We called it a night early (for me/late for everyone else) and got home in time to watch the ball drop and get to bed.

New Year's Day I was still feeling less than motivated. I felt pretty content to sit around and watch the outdoor hockey game. Despite it being a great game I was convinced to give xc-skiing a shot. We went out to Burchfield, rented some equipment and I floundered around for an hour in the snow. I actually had a pretty good time and if I could be convinced that we'd have consistent snow, I'd likely buy the necessary equipment. I spent the rest of the week trying to catch up on my missed training. With Andrea's birthday, an unexpected funeral and oddly scheduled hockey games the attempt was good but unsuccessful. Now I just need to get back on the horse and stay consistent. No need to dwell on lost opportunity, unless I lose a close race come spring.

My new team bike, Rocky Mountain Vertex 70, should be shipped today. The new Bowflex should ship soon alleviating those nasty trips to the gym.
